Strong in her belief of the power of the stage, she performs from her throne, singing the message of everyday people, everyday hope, and everyday love. What inspiration…Cheers!!!

This past Tuesday, I rivaled my best tasting day to date by co-creating and sampling over 40 new cocktails for a new menu development project for a major NYC hotel bar.

Now, I’ve been doing this sort of stuff for what seems like just a minute now, and I’d like to think that I’m pretty seasoned and have established a pre-tasting routine that works for me… yeah right! I’m no lightweight when it comes to drinking or in my physical body stature, not that the last point has much bearing.

So, I did have a good night’s sleep, ate a relatively big breakfast, made sure to hydrate with almost a gallon of water (hmmm…this accounted for at least 10 restroom visits), and I only dipped a straw in each drink to taste. All I have to say is thank goodness that I ordered car service!

Most importantly, the drinks turned out simply fab!!! And, the client gave me the thumbs up approval on the new cocktail menu. So much for having a routine!

Tales…Worked It!

August 2nd, 2008

This year’s Tales of the Cocktail proved to be an invaluable and informative getaway from NYC.  Networking with other established and up n‘ coming mixologists from every part of the country was also quite an experience.

Collectively, we partied, exchanged interesting new cocktail ideas, and toured classic taverns and bars in the French Quarter’s of New Orleans. Our usual meeting point was the historic Carousel Bar in The Monteleone Hotel, which was fortunately closely located to just about everything!

This event was like a one-stop-shop where I had the opportunity to not only meet and mingle with  other incredibly talented mixologists, but also member’s of the media, liquor distributors, restaurant and bar proprietors, and owners of various established and new products.

As you can imagine, I am certainly looking forward to next year’s festivities.  In the meantime, I’ll look forward to seeing you all at the upcoming New York City Wine & Food Festival.  Until then, cheers!
