Spring in Philly

March 29th, 2012

Yesterday morning I was in Philadelphia creating spring cocktails with my friends on NBC Philly 10. Spring means fresh fruit and tropical weather. With fresh lemon and pomegranate juice, I definitely incorporated the season’s ingredients into my fab cocktails.

Technology is taking over! Who needs a notepad when they have an iPad 3? I’m using my iPad as my cue cards.

Cocktails:

West Wing
½ oz Fresh Lemon Juice
½ oz Hendricks Gin
2 oz Martini Bianco
4 oz Proseco

Preparation: Combine all ingredients except proseco in an iced mixing glass, shake, strain into a champagne flute, top with proseco and lemon twist

Pomelini
1 oz Pom Pomegranate Juice
4 oz Martinellis Sparkling Apple Cider
1 ½ oz Ketel Citron

Preparation: Combine all ingredients except sparkling cider in an iced mixing glass, shake, strain into a champagne flute, fill with sparkling cider and garnish with Pomegranate seeds

Cub Room
1 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
3 – 4 oz Fever Tree Ginger Beer
1 oz Pimms Liqueur No1

Preparation: Combine all ingredients in an iced collins glass and garnish with cucumber slices

18th Hole
2 oz Simply Fresh Lemonade
2 oz Gold Peak Fresh Brewed Sweet Tea
1 ½ oz Tanteo Jalepeno Tequila

Preparation: Combine all ingredients carefully layering the lemonade and iced tea in an iced collins glass and garnish with lemon twists and raspberries

DIY: Get Spicy with 18th Hole

March 27th, 2012

Happy Taco Tiesday!

This Tuesday I am featuring a sweet and spicy Jalepeno based cocktail, 18th Hole.

This tequila-margarita is simply delicious and easy to make! Wash today’s tacos down with this exotic drink.

18th Hole
2 oz Simply Fresh Lemonade
2 oz Gold Peak Fresh Brewed Sweet Tea
1 ½ oz Tanteo Jalepeno Tequila
Preparation: Combine all ingredients carefully layering the lemonade and iced tea in an iced collins glass and garnish with lemon twists and raspberries

*Taco Tuesday is a weekly national holiday where restaurants have all you can eat taco specials and discounted drinks. Another alternative to celebrating Taco Tuesday is hosting your own Taco Tuesday party at home with friends.

Every other Tuesday I will be featuring a tasty Latin inspired cocktail that you and your friends can enjoy while hosting your own taco Tuesday party!

DR Cocktail Tasting Event

March 16th, 2012

Before any of my cocktails are featured on TV shows, magazines, media and events; I gather my most trusted friends and colleagues for a beverage tasting.

I’ve been hiding at my bar for the past few days shaking and mixing all sorts of cocktails for my upcoming appearances in March and April.

My board of tastees had a wide selection of cocktails to vote for. I don’t know which cocktails will make the cut, but here is a sneak peak into some potential spirit combinations.

Tasting for a Cause

March 13th, 2012

Last night, my good friend and NY Insider host, Thomas Farley and I attended the food and beverage tasting at the Metropolitan Pavilion. The event was held to honor and support the Greenwich House Fundraiser.

We hung out with celebrity chef Johnathon Waxman and drank tasty drinks from Bison Grass Vodka and Vesicant Triple Distilled Affordable vodka.
